The Real Macaw

Macaws are the most colorful and strikingly beautiful members of the parrot family and have the typical parrot features. They have large, strong, curved beaks designed to crush nuts and seeds. Strong, agile toes are used like hands to grasp things. Loud, screeching and squawking voices help make their presence known in dense rain forests and that is how they communicate with their group. Their native habitats are the forests, especially rain forests, of Mexico, Central and South America and sometimes the Caribbean Islands.

  10. your pictures are always stunning .. i mean most of the photoblogs in the blog world are garbage .. the pics hold no meaning .. no use .. however your blog has one of the most unique pictures that i come across from time to time :)

The parrot picture .. the parrot looks like a warrior parrot .. the face marks perhaps represent that.

  17. Gangadhar, thanks so much. No probs at being late, i understand everyone gets busy at times. Yes i got your email, but did not reply as you told me you would be away on tour and wont get to check emails.

  18. hpy, i perfectly agree with you. Birds are meant to fly free and caging them is not my idea of having a pet. These are tropical birds and require certain conditions in order to survive. They however adapt to new environments, but it takes time.

  20. Suji, thank you. It works both ways for me. Sometimes i know what to write and go get pictures. Other times i have pictures and i start writing on them. The macaws look angry because they were having a heated argument with the toucans next door when i was taking their picture. There was so much commotion for 10 minutes, then the macaws stopped, the toucans continued the argument with each other. It was amusing to see them argue. One thing good i noticed was that they dont get physical when they have a fight.

  23. Nabeel, thank you for the compliments. Appreciate every word of it. To be honest with you, i dont think my pictures stand a chance compared to most of the awesome photo blogs out there. I learn a lot from the other photographers and their pictures and thats how i get ideas of how i can improve my pictures even more. I am still a lil kid compared to the many photographers i know. Thanks again for your comment, it was very inspiring.

My mom thought that macaw inherited the white tiger genes after she saw the stripes on its face.
    Take care -ari

  37. He Rauf, Thanks a bunch. Those macaws are well taken care of and are treated like VIPs. The reason they might look unhappy is that they were having a heated and loud argument among themselves when i walking by and taking pictures. I guess they look mad and furious.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Corinne, thank you :) The blue macaws have facial features and colors that may appear as if they are smiling at you.
