The other day when i was at the beach, i came across this strange looking flower. I have never seen this flower before, but it definitely caught my attention. Do you know what this flower is called? I have some wild guesses, but i will wait for your reply.

If it helps to know, i saw it on the sidewalk outside a restaurant while walking back to my car. Any guesses?

It sounded too much like a sermon...not me.
Take care!
Margie:)

ReplyDeleteTake care Margie. G'nite.
Whatever the name of the flower..but you've given us a great chance to view that rare flower..
ReplyDeleteAnd i'll look forward to the answer here in the comment board,Ari...
Nice one..
Hi Ari,
ReplyDelete(I have blogrolled this exciting link.)
That looks like a cross between CACTUS, ROSE and a LOTUS: I will call it CROTUS.
Btw, can you please change the url for my link in ur blogroll to:
http://bellurramki18.wordpress.com/
It is the cactus ari. Pretty cute... Love the reflections of red and green together.
ReplyDeleteI was listening to your songs here and they are crystal clear. Thanks..
ReplyDeleteNaice flower!
ReplyDeleteI think I made something like this in my Art class in grade 2!
no really it was with 'crap paper' but still the mean big huge teacher gave me a B!.
She said, 'It has too many petals for the stem to hold'.

ReplyDeleteHey~
ReplyDeleteYeah...kind of spooky timing again
last night... commenting
at the same time again.
Well, I put my poem about "Linda"
back on my blog... as she read your comment about it.
She sent me an email to ask if she
was the "Linda" I wrote about.
I told her I only have one friend
named Linda.
So,she wanted to read it...
I won't be taken it off again...
not really sure why I did in the
first place.
Well, Take care!
Margie
I am so tired today... I don't even know how to spell "Taking"
ReplyDelete"What's in a name? That which we call a rose - By any other word would smell as sweet."
ReplyDeleteWilliam Shakespeare !
Wow! the flower is beautiful! is it some kind of cactus.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back to learn its name! :)
Margie, thank you. Its okay about that poem, i was only kidding :)
ReplyDeleteHi G, i dont know the answer myself. I at first, thought it was a blooming artichoke, but then realised that i have not seen an artichoke this big and that too with a shade of red. So i guess it must be some variant of cactus.
ReplyDeleterk... Crotus... hahahah.. very creative. Thats what im gonna call it.
ReplyDeleteI guess you are the winner Priya :) I saw similar shaped flowers online that are classified as Cactus. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Nida, welcome to my blog and glad you liked the flower. Its funny that your teacher lacked imagination. I would have given you A+ for your paper rose. :) Take care and thanks for stopping by. -ari
ReplyDeleteMargie, yeah, it was spooky timing again.
ReplyDeleteIts okay about the typo. :)
Who??? Wali Mia Sheikh Peer... Yeah, i knew him... lol. He said the best stuff, often gets past the head... hahahaha. Thanks for your comment Nabeel :)

It has been raining all night here
and just is not going to stop.
I will gladly send some of this rain your way if you still need it!
Crazy and nutty weather!
All I wanted was rain... but now it should stop or we will get
some flooding!
So, the flower was a cactus
flower... huh?
So very beautiful!
Take care!
Margie:)
Thank you K. Think think.. Think Think... :D
ReplyDeleteMargie, yeah, send some rain here. Though it is not that hot now, the rain would definitely be a big break. :) Yeah, Cactus it was i guess. Take care :)

ReplyDeleteari~
ReplyDeleteHave you gotten the rain?
I sent it Special Delivery!
It is sooooooooo beautiful here
this morning!
Sunny, not too hot and the air is so fresh and crisp after the all
night rain!
I am doing better today.
I was upset for a couple of reasons
this week.
My ex brother in law Michael
died a week ago today!
He has been divorced from my sister for a long time, but we stayed good friends.
I was just sad remembering him as
he did not have a very good life for quite some time.
He was quite sick... and about
6 months ago he had to go into
a nursing home... and he was way too young to be there.
I saw him recently, and all he talked about was that he "wished
Chris(his son) would call him and
come visit him" Now, it is too late for Chris to call or visit
him... that just made me so very
sad!
And, I was planning to call him on
the day he died.
And, then there is my husband.
I keep asking him to read my blog,
but he answers me" But, I don't
like poetry"
Yeah... we are different... like day and night.
I told him this morning " I am
going to run away with the milkman
(yes, we do have a milkman)
If you do not read my poetry"
So, I will let you know soon if I
am with my milkman. I bet he likes
poetry!
Have a great day... and let me know if you get that rain I sent!
Take care!
Margie:)
Margie
Interesting comments on your blog. Must be a cactus of some sort. I like your headline banner think up at the top. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteMargie, belive it or not. I got your delivery. I had a dream full of rain. I was out there in a green lush field taking pictures, running wild, soaking wet, no worries in life. It was fun and felt good. Rain is something i dont get to see a lot here... So everytime it rains, im out on the road to soak it in :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your ex brother-in-law. May his soul rest in peace and may you and your family have the strength to bear the loss and move on.
Milkman? lol.. that was funny. We dont have a milkman, but we have a UPS delivery guy who is into Tupac. Crazy fan of Tupac he is... I wonder if i can ask him to post on your blog, maybe he can start rapping to your poetry... hahahaha... just messing with you.
Take care and be strong.

hi natalie. Welcome to my blog. I assume you are referring to the sunset in the header of my blog. I shot it when i was driving up Highway 101 N from Gilroy. I took couple of shots and stitched them to make a panaromic picture. I love the hues, and the power grid towers add to the nice effect :) Thanks for stopping by. C'ya around -ari
ReplyDeleteboo.. you must be hungry to think of a cabbage... lol. Where have you been? Wassup with your job thingamajig? Any luck? I gmailed you instructions for FTP access. Hope you got them. Cant wait to see your stuff :) Will try calling this weekend. Take care, love and hugs to you and Kaz :)
ReplyDeleteari... Wow! That was a neat dream!
ReplyDeleteNo cares in the world... just doing what you love to do in the rain... being happy and free!
Thanks so much for the comforting
words about my ex-brother-in-law.
I miss him a lot... and do grieve
for his son and daughter.
It is sad to lose a father when he is still young.
As for my milkman... well, I think
I will just let him be... he might
like poetry less than my hubby...
and where would I be then?
The UPS delivery guy rapping to
my poetry sounds pretty cool though... ok... check with him
and get back to me. Just kidding !
That would be pretty funny though!
Take care!
Margie:)
No one has named your succulent yet? It's either a sempervivum or a sepervivum calcoreum rosularia. The rounded leaves lend itself to a rosularia. If not, this is the right track. Succulents. Sempervivum calcoreum and what ever funky name they put after it. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou found it. Name it. I vote for Bill!
the first pic with those fierce combinations of green and white specks all around (those flowers are lovely) truly looks great!
ReplyDeleteWow! Great pic of a great flower. Seems to be a cactus like everybody else has commented.
ReplyDeletehahaha.. Margie. I will ask him.
ReplyDeleteFrida... WOW! You are the in-house botanist!!! :) and WOW, you totally floored me with your knowledge and with that word. I googled and yeah, you are definitely right! it is a sempervivum. Im not sure which variety as a couple of them look similar to the picture i posted. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI go for Bob :)
Have a wonderful weekend y'all
velu, welcome to my blog. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments
ReplyDeleteTake care -ari
Suji, thank you. Our botanist has declared it to be a sempervivum. You can call it Bob :)
ReplyDeleteTake care -ari
I like it.
ReplyDeleteSempervivum Bob Arium
Bob for short. We have a winner!
It is a sempervivum also called Hens and Chicks
